With the road, pedestrian and cycling networks almost complete, work is now focusing on the garden. However, the future urban park in Praça de Espanha is not expected to be completed in 2020.
In addition to the green space, new accesses to the Metro station will be created. The pedestrian bridge linking the central area of Praça de Espanha to the Gulbenkian will be built at a later date, and the public tender for the project has now been launched or is yet to be launched. Also in the future, with no date specified, the Square will house the new offices of Montepio and Jerónimo Martins, as well as the extension of the current building of the Portuguese Oncology Institute.
