Lisbon Metropolitan Transport is already operating

TML - Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa, 100% owned by Lisbon Metropolitan Areatoday officially went into operation.

With a public capital of 25 million euros, and administrative, financial, and patrimonial autonomy, this local metropolitan company assumes competencies in the domains of mobility and transports, namely those of transport authority concerning public services of passenger transport in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, including the management of public service contracts of road transport of passengers of inter-municipal and municipal scope.

It is also responsible for installing a technological platform that integrates the ticketing and public information system, for developing studies and plans, and for implementing accessibility, mobility, and transport policies. 

Through its implementation, all services previously provided by OTLIS, including the issuing and management of the Lisboa VIVA Card and the processing of the respective databases, will be ensured by TML. The general conditions of the Lisboa Viva card and the privacy policy will not change.

The president of the board of the general assembly is Carla Tavares, president of Amadora City Hall, and Carlos Humberto de Carvalho, first secretary of Área Metropolitana de Lisboa, is vice-president of the board (both unpaid). Faustino Gomes is the executive president of the board of directors, while Rui Lopo and Sónia Alegre are executive members.

The AML also has two advisory bodies: the Metropolitan Mobility Council and the Advisory Council for Mobility Technologies.

Without prejudice to economic efficiency and financial viability and balance, TML's management is guided in accordance with the objectives and strategic guiding principles defined by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, which aim at the satisfaction, accessibility and universality of the services provided and the protection of all transport system users.
