As part of the European City Changer Cargo Bike (CCCB) program, a pilot project to lend cargo bikes is underway in Lisbon at the end of 2019. The loan lasts for a month and aims to encourage the adoption of this type of bicycle in the city.
The first four families enrolled in this project received their bikes in November last year. The delivery was accompanied by initial training on safe driving and the use of locks. Miguel Gaspar, Lisbon's Councillor for Mobility, is also one of the new users of the service; he's using the bikes to transport his children to school and reporting on his experience on LinkedIn.
The City Changer Cargo Bike (CCCB) involves beneficiaries from 17 European Union states - including the city of Lisbon - who want to implement cargo bikes in their daily lives. It began in September 2018 and will run for three years.
