Why don't they cut the "bush"?

At first glance it may seem like carelessness and neglect on the part of the city's maintenance teams, but the truth is that this is how it's supposed to be. They are called urban meadows and can play a very important role in the city's biodiversity.

These areas should be left in their most natural state, allowing the flowers to grow and attract pollinating insects. Urban meadows, which can be found in various areas of Lisbon (the photo is of the Amália Rodrigues Garden, part of the Monsanto Green Corridor), help improve the soil and also save water, as they don't need to be watered.
