In the European Mobility Week, the Lisbon Municipality launches the campaign Whenever you can, go by bicycle. Several citizens leave their testimony on how the bicycle commute has changed their way of being and living.
The Lisbon City Hall has been investing in the creation of better and better conditions for the implementation of new forms of transportation.
The focus on active mobility is a reality that has been occurring all over Europe, as a result of the need to reduce congestion in cities, pollutant emissions, and noise, Lisbon having, European Green Capital 2020 made a commitment to reduction in CO2 emissions by 60% to 2030, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Besides the environmental issue, cycling also brings several health benefits. In this context, the implementation of more cycle paths and cycle lanes, creating more safety conditions, and the incentive to purchase city bicycles lead to more and more reasons to change. In the last month the municipality received 1135 requests for support for the purchase of bicycles - 632 conventional, 435 electric and 8 cargobikes.
Change too... and whenever it is possible, switch to cycling in the city.
