A Angels Cycle Shop has embarked on a new adventure. It's called SADDLE e is a bicycle bank that wants to help those who don't have a bicycle to get one in a long-term loan modality. The project is now available in the city.
THE SEAL "is a project created to support the mobility of all people who need to move around during the Covid-19 pandemic, and who do not have a bicycle". SELIM both lends used bicycles for a very affordable price and is available to receive bicycles from those who no longer want them, even if they no longer work.
All bikes that arrive at the hands of SELIM are repaired, checked and tested by a team already experienced in bike mechanics. The vehicles available in this first phase of SELIM's launch are the old bicycles from Obike - are single speed (no gears), have a lowered frame, magnetic dynamo light, drum brakes and basket.
SELIM does not guarantee accessories such as lights and reflectors, which are mandatory in Portugal, or padlocks, luggage carriers, bells, and rests.
SELIM's bicycles are available to everyone who lives, works or studies in Lisbon and does not have a bicycle; priority is given to those who seek a bicycle for commuting from home to school, and also to those who need one for work or job hunting. Loans cost 10 eurosHalf of this amount works as a deposit, "which can be returned if you no longer need the bike, or find one more suitable for your urban commute".
SELIM has a physical space in store 31 of the Arroios Market, open every Tuesday between 1:30pm and 4:00pm, every Thursday between 5:00pm and 8:00pm, and outside these hours by appointment. Whether you want a bicycle or need one, you can find all the details about SELIM on their website at saddle.cicloficina.pt.
