In the future, it will be possible to go from Saldanha to the river always in a cycling corridor through the connections recently built in Praça de Londres and Avenida de Paris. According to a project now disclosed, the Avenida de Paris bike lane, composed of a shared lane and another in counterflow, will be extended by Almirante de Reis to Olaias.
The cycle path will start with a crossing on Almirante de Reis and will go up a small section of this avenue, on the right-hand side and in a bidirectional format, as far as the Areeiro traffic circle. Here it will turn left onto Avenida Afonso Costa, which will lose one lane on the right. Bus stops will be repositioned to avoid conflicts with cyclists and a GIRA station is planned at the start of the avenue.
Further along, near the central garden that occupies the avenue, the cycle path will cross over to the other side via a series of safe crossings. Next to a Lisbon City Hall building, the cycle path will connect to the existing infrastructure that runs through Parque da Bela Vista and Parque do Vale de Chelas to the river. Another GIRA station is to be installed in this area, which will be the closest to Olaias.
