In Rua das Praças, in Estrela, a different way of making town has emerged.

At intersections there are no crosswalks, inviting people to cross as they please (diagonally, for example) rather than restricting them to certain geometries. Cars are prompted to slow down, which improves safety.

There are also planted trees, flower beds, and benches that, depending on the time of day, catch the shade of the buildings.
