After a first process with little participation, which culminated in the cancellation of the renovation projects for the Martim Moniz Square due to pressure from the population, the City Council is now seeking a greater and better understanding with the community. Until January 15, 2021, the Martim Moniz will be under public discussion.
The first phase of the participatory process for Martim Moniz Square began on December 18th. Until January 15th 2021, the Lisbon City Hall wants To listen and understand their concerns, wishes and ideas for the future transformation of this square (design, construction and future use). All citizens, aged 16 and over, who live, work and/or enjoy Martim Moniz Square, as well as anyone who shows interest in its future, can participate.

Once the public hearing is over, the next phase will be the disclosure of the report with the results of the participation and the presentation in a town hall meeting of the conclusions of the public participation and the proposal for the preliminary program of the requalification project for Martim Moniz Square, including the opinion of the Parish Council of Santa Maria Maior.
Subsequently, the technical and specialized participation phase will be promoted, open and plural, for the development of spatial proposals (design proposals that concretize and translate the results of the public participation contributions). Finally, the approval, in a City Council meeting, of the base program for the international public tender for the Martim Moniz Square execution project is foreseen.
This set of initiatives materializes what was unanimously approved at the City Council meeting - the development of a strategy and plan of actions for the public participation process with a view to the requalification of Martim Moniz Square.
