Work has begun on three important cycle paths in Lisbon: the Alameda das Linhas de Torreswhich will connect Lumiar to Campo Grande, the Lusíada Avenuewhich will take us from Benfica to Cidade Universitária, and the connection between Avenida de Paris and Afonso Costa Avenuewhere it connects with the cycle path to Bela Vista or Chelas.
In all, there will be around 5 new cycling kilometers. This will be followed by the Avenida de Berna, the new Avenida Almirante de Reis (conversion of the existing infrastructure and extension to Avenida Guerra Junqueiro/Areeiro) and the Avenue of India. The project for this road, which will extend the existing network on Avenida 24 de Julho to the west, from the Alcântara junction to Rua Fernão Mendes Pinto, was recently announced by the local authority. In order to ensure the safety of cyclists, beacons and concrete elements will be placed along the 4 km route in the protective strip.
