A The cycle track on Rua Pardal Monteiro, which currently connects Alvalade to Olivais, will be extended on the remaining stretch of that streetThis will allow us to resolve some loose ends in the Bela Vista and Chelas areas and create a new access to the river. The 143 thousand euro contract has already been awarded and the deadline for completion is 60 days.

The intervention will involve the Pardal Monteiro Streets, Engineer Ferreira Dias e Councilor Emídio NavarroFrom Pardal Monteiro's bike path, which gives access to Alvalade, Olivais or Parque da Bela Vista, it will be possible to reach, through Rua Eng. Vale de Chelas Urban Parkwhere there is already a bike path towards the river.

Through Rua Eng. Ferreira Dias it will also be possible to reach Rua Conselheiro Emídio Navarro, but then the bicycle path is at the entrance. In a street with longitudinal and oblique parking, it was not decided to move this parking to insert the bike lane (it would have been possible to move this parking to Ferreira Dias, a wide artery as usual in that area, without compromising the creation of the bike lane there).

However, at the intersection of Emídio Navarro and Avenida Augusto de Castro, where there is a small section of bike path in front of a commercial surface, it will be extended to the intersection. It remains to be seen whether the entire Rua Conselheiro Emídio Navarro will be transformed into a 30+bicycle corridor in the future to connect the two sections within a few meters of each other, but nothing is, for the time being, in the project. Bicyclists will still be able to share the road, but without the signage and comfort that 30+bike markings can provide.

These new cycling connections will reinforce the cycling network in Marvila and resolve some loose ends in the network. With the creation of the bike lanes, parking will also be created and rearranged, especially along Rua Pardal Monteiro; here two one-way bike lanes will be created next to the sidewalks separated by beacons and longitudinal parking, which will allow the narrowing of that wide street to two lanes of 3.50 meters and thus increase road safety there. On Eng. Ferreira Dias Street, the cycling path will be defined by a bidirectional lane with 2.20 meters.

Currently under construction is Afonso Costa Avenuein Areeiro, a bike path that will link Bela Vista, Chelas, and also the river. In conclusion phase is the Marechal Gomes da Costa Avenue bike path, another access to the river, and that passes very close to these new connections in the streets Pardal Monteiro, Eng. Ferreira Dias and Conselheiro Emídio Navarro.
