
After rebuilt the right side (facing the river)The left side has now been restored. The Namoradeiras Wall, in Terreiro do Paço, known for its square benches in pairs and facing each other, is now complete and as good as new.
The eight original lamps were replaced and the embankment between the Cais das Colunas and the Sul e Sueste Station, which has been under renovation and is expected to be inaugurated soon, was removed. The Namoradeiras Wall had been destroyed about 25 years ago, when the Lisbon Underground arrived at Terreiro do Paço.
According to Turismo de Lisboa, which carried out this intervention commissioned by the municipality, the reconstruction of the Namoradeiras Wall involved the inventory of more than 400 stones that were stored in the Pontinha Metro installations and returned to Terreiro do Paço to be reassembled according to the original layout.
