Whoever has passed by the recent Marechal Gomes da Costa Avenue bike path in the last few days will have noticed that the gray concrete has been gaining some color. Urban artists began earlier this June to intervene several meters of New Jersey installed to separate the bike lane from other traffic and protect the most vulnerable.
The "wall" of Marechal Gomes da Costa is being intervened in the direction of the river from the traffic circle where the bicycle path that goes to the Silence Valley crosses, by the artists Los Pepes, Nuno Alecrim e Malibu Ninjas. Each one was left with a several-meter stretch of New Jersey. There will also be a school activity in which about 300 students from 12 1st cycle classes of the Santa Maria dos Olivais School Grouping will give a hand with the paintings. The signs painted by the children will be interspersed with signs painted by the artists.
The artistic intervention in the New Jersey of the Marechal Gomes da Costa bike path will take place over a 2.2 km route and the total painting area will be 600 square meters. The intervention, inspired by cities like New YorkIt is only being done on the side of the bicycle path, so it can be appreciated by those who travel along the avenue by bike, but also on foot. The designs and colors may help to better integrate the concrete into the neighborhood, creating a new motif of interest.
Lisboa Para Pessoas will continue to follow this intervention.
