It's called "Around the Neighborhood" and is a pilot project launched by the Benfica Parish Council during the 1st cycle children's summer vacation. The objective is to promote the use of public transport by the youngest when traveling between their homes and the school where the vacation activities promoted by the Lisbon City Council take place within the scope of the program Family Support Component (CAF).
Based on the route of route 70B, one of the Carris Neighborhood routes, the Benfica Parish Council supervises the children on the bus in the morningfrom 8 a.m. to 9.15 a.m., Monday to Friday. Students will also be welcomed at the bus stop next to the school and accompanied inside. Parents/guardians should report to the bus stop with their children.
Fathers and mothers who were interested in joining this pilot initiative had to sign up for it by July 5th, through a form provided by the Benfica Parish Council. This is a project supported by Carris and Lisbon City Council.
O "Around the Neighborhood" aims to encourage the use of public transport by children during their vacations when mothers and fathers are still at work, resolving the fears that families may have about leaving their little ones unattended. With this project, the Benfica Parish Council also hopes to help reduce the need to use private cars to pick up and drop off children.
