The gardens of Quinta da Alfarrobeira, in São Domingos de Benfica, open to the public this Friday. This is a new green space in the city, which has a network of pedestrian paths, a picnic area, a playground, an area of fitness, new seating areas and a clearing to host outdoor events.
Quinta da Alfarrobeira dates back to the 18th century and has been the home of the Parish Council of São Domingos de Benfica since 2016. The Quinta building had been restored to house the services of the Parish Council, including customer service. In March of this year, work began on the restoration of the gardens. In addition to the creation of new spaces, several original architectural elements of the space were recovered, such as the octagonal lake, the niche, the pergola and the gate.
Quinta da Alfarrobeira is open every day from 9 am to 6 pm. The space is close to the border with the parish of Benfica, near Califa and Fonte Nova, more specifically at number 13 Rua António Saúde. Not far from Quinta da Alfarrobeira, in the Calhariz area, there is also a new green space since November last year.
