The Metro will reinforce its offer, reducing waiting times compared to the timetables currently in force, in order to respond to the expected increase in demand following the start of the new school year, as well as the return to face-to-face work.

From Monday, September 13, the Lisbon Metro will proceed with the reinforcement of the offer, allowing a reduction in waiting times compared to the schedules currently in forcein order to meet the expected increase in demand following the start of the new school year, as well as the return to face-to-face work.
Supply will be increased on the Blue and Yellow lines during the morning and afternoon rush hours by increasing the number of trains running. As a result, Metropolitano de Lisboa will run on the Blue Line with an average interval between trains during the morning rush hours of 4'35 minutes and in the afternoon rush hours of 4'55 minutes. On the Yellow Line, it will run with an average morning rush hour interval of 4'05 minutes and in the afternoon rush hours of 4'25 minutes.
On the Green and Red lines, Metropolitano de Lisboa will maintain its operating service with the offer of 100%The service on these lines may be adjusted depending on the levels of demand that occur.
On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, trains will run with six carriages in situations where there is a possible increase in demand, such as cultural or sporting events. This change will double the number of seats available, while maintaining the frequency of trains.
According to Metro de Lisboa, "this reinforcement of supply aims to continue to ensure the conditions of safety and distance between customers, maintaining adequate supply in relation to demand and guaranteeing transportation for all those who are working or studying and who need to travel by public transport".
In a statement, the company said it will continue to "reinforce the appeal to all customers to continue to look for the emptiest carriages and, if necessary, to wait for the next train, in order to maintain the recommended safety distances". Metro de Lisboa guarantees that it will continue to monitor the evolution of demand and make the necessary adjustments to supply, "adopting the measures that, at any given time, are deemed most appropriate to guarantee the best health and safety conditions".
