O Lisbon For People, a magazine about mobility and sustainability in Lisbon, was awarded the National Bicycle Mobility Award 2021 in the "Communication" category. The awards ceremony took place on Monday, September 20, in the auditorium of the Orlando Ribeiro Municipal Library in Telheiras.
The XVI National Bicycle Mobility Award is an initiative created in 2006 by the Portuguese Federation of Cycle Tourism and Bicycle Users (FPCUB) and this year included the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

Every year, the National Bicycle Mobility Award seeks to "to publicly recognize the contribution of entities or individuals who have promoted the use of the bicycle in its multiple aspects, through the creation or improvement of conditions and facilities in Portugal and/or the dissemination of initiatives promoting the use of this non-motorized mode of transport"according to the FPCUB. This initiative is part of European Mobility Week, which this year runs from September 16 to 22.
Lisboa Para Pessoas was recognized for its work promoting pedestrian and cycling mobility and public transport, and for its contribution to the community through the systematization of information, as the FPCUB said during the ceremony. "Our thanks for contributing to a more sustainable Lisbon through participatory and constructive communication." In addition to Lisboa Para Pessoas, the following were honored in the "Communication" category Jornal de Notícias (JN) for his work in the field of mobility and the film The Soul of a Cyclistby Nuno Tavares

The FPCUB has "organized and supported numerous initiatives on the subject of cycling, with the aim of continuing to raise awareness among public opinion and political decision-makers (government and central and local administrations) of the need to create increasingly safe conditions for cycling in Portugal, as a complement to public transport and walking, as an alternative to mass car use", reads the same note sent to newsrooms.
"The Federation remains ready to help local authorities and the various ministries and departments concerned with the promotion and use of bicycles (environment, transport, mobility, health, energy, economy, sport, youth, culture and tourism) to develop policies and implement integrated measures and solutions that effectively contribute to the use of bicycles as an added value for mobility in cities, as is the case in many European countries."
