The pilot project launched in July to collect bulky electrical equipment has been extended to more parishes in Lisbon: it is now available at Alvalade, Areeiro, Arroios, Avenidas Novas, Campolide and Santo Antónioas well as Ajuda, Alcântara and Belém where it already worked. That's nine of the city's 24 parishes.

Until December 31st, residents of these parishes can request the collection of electrical equipment by calling the number 808 20 32 32 of Lisbon City Council. The collection team will ensure free transportation from home and forwarding for recycling. "Whether they're in the kitchen or in the garage, we take them for recycling" is the motto of this pilot project developed by the municipality with Electrão.

This initiative aims to test a citizen-friendly waste collection service, which will complement the current services already provided by the municipality and the range of waste disposal sites offered by Electrão.

The aim is to prevent families from accumulating used electrical equipment that is at the end of its life and also from placing these items on the street to be transported by the municipal services, but which end up being diverted from the official circuit before the municipal vehicle arrives.
