Data from the 18 weather stations which were installed at the end of last yearin the 18 municipalities in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) - one for each municipality - are now available in detail, publicly and in real time on the portal clima.aml.pt.

The climate change challenge is also a data challenge. Only with up-to-date and complete information on the climate will it be possible to monitor how it evolves, adjust climate change adaptation plans and eventually define new measures.

On the portal's home page, you can get an overview of the climate (temperature, humidity, wind and other indicators) in the 18 municipalities of the AML. But by selecting a station, you can drill down and browse more detailed data for each station, i.e. for each municipality. The following indicators are available: Barometer (Mb), Outdoor Humidity (%) Precipitation Intensity, Max Precipitation Intensity, Temperature (Cº), Max Temperature (Cº), Min Temperature (Cº), Average Wind Speed (km/h), Wind Direction, Max Wind Speed (km/h) and Wind Direction.

The information is presented raw in graphs but also in a table that can be downloaded in TXT or Excel format. There is also a table with average data for each day of the month, which can also be downloaded. There is, at least for the time being, no API available to allow this data to be integrated into external platforms.

The Portal clima.aml.pt is part of the CLIMA.AML project, which proposes an integrated solution for meteorological monitoring in an urban context, in the 18 municipalities of AML, using a platform online which monitors, evaluates and reconciles the meteorological data collected. This network will make it possible to learn about the patterns associated with climate change and the impacts on local communities, working in complementarity with the network of the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
