When I set out to build and launch Lisboa Para Pessoas in 2021, I knew I had to invest a lot of my time in this project. To give myself to the city, to its charms and its problems. One year later, with proven track records, I thought it was time to ask a question to all the people that were joining as readers and followers: is Lisboa Para Pessoas important for the city? If so, let's fund it together.
A campaign for crowdfunding that I launched intended to raise 10 thousand euros - for every thousand euros raised, one month of Lisboa Para Pessoas would be assured. After two months, against all odds and despite all the people who thought the goal was unattainable, we succeeded. It was not easy. March and April were especially stressfulI had to split myself almost single-handedly between continuing the daily work I had committed to and activating the ongoing campaign.
But the city responded positively. More than 15,000 views on the pages of crowdfunding resulted in 263 supporters and 11,110 euros raised. We thus exceeded the amount we had set ourselves, which allowed us to keep a net total of about 10,000 euros and the surplus for the PPL and payment platform commissions.

Lisboa Para Pessoas is, therefore, assured until, at least, the end of 2022. During the next few months, I will continue to work with Shifter XWe are trying to find other ways to finance this project in order to extend its life span.. We and 263 other people believe that Lisboa Para Pessoas is important for the city. It was with this conviction that we got here, that we launched ourselves into a crowdfunding and that we now continue on this journey.
Completed the crowdfunding, me, Mário Rui André, now 29 years oldI will finally have a monthly income - at the national minimum wage - for the work I do and for all the hours I continue to put into Lisboa Para Pessoas and the city. We will substantially reduce the number of ads on the site - a request that several people have made - in order to improve the browsing experience. We will continue to have available the options of monthly contribution, from one-off donation and our Patreonso that it will continue to be possible, since all content will remain open to everyone, without paywall.
