There are new GIRA stations to be installed and a community map that indicates where

In the absence of official information, the Lisboa Para Pessoas Community has been getting together to update a map with the location of the new GIRA bike share stations.

Solved the technical question that forced the closure of four GIRA stations in Campolide and Amoreiras, the EMEL returned to the installation of stations in the city. In the last few days, new stops were observed at Rua Bordalo Pinheiro (between Sete Rios and Praça de Espanha) and at Parque Urbano da Praça de Espanha, in Campolide, and also at Avenida do Uruguai, in Benfica. Since there is no official map of the new stations, the Lisbon Community for People has created one, where it is possible to follow the expansion of the network.

The map started to be created in February by Carlos FonsecaHe is a 35-year-old software engineer who has been relying on the precious help of the Community. Through DiscordSeveral people have reported that new stations have appeared in different parts of the city and have been added to the map, which has since become everyone's map.

The map of Carlos is made in My MapsGoogle's proprietary platform. In parallel, Diogo Baptista, also a member of the Lisboa Para Pessoas Community, has been updating the information on the Open Street Mapswhich, unlike Google My Maps, is an open platform - this means that it can be edited and changed by everyone, just like Wikipedia, for example. Diogo's work can be found here; the stations that appear on this map are listed here. Carlos and Diogo have been collaborating and sharing information with each other.

This community work comes in response to EMEL not providing an official map of the ongoing or planned expansion of the GIRA network. The Community responded by creating its own map in order to better track the evolution of Lisbon's bike sharing system. If you see a new GIRA station out there, just take a picture and share it on the Lisbon For People Discord channel #mapa-gira.

Since the summer of 2021, EMEL has opened several stations around the city and installed new ones still waiting to be opened. The next to become operational should be the stations in the parishes of Carnide, Benfica, Belém, and São Domingos de Benfica.
