The people who daily help us get from one place to another in the city of Lisbon have new work clothes.

The Lisbon Metro is gradually introducing new work clothes, starting on August 1st and running until September. This new clothing line is aimed at the company's operational categories, thus covering around 800 workers in the areas of operation, maintenance and customer support, "making them more comfortable and better suited to the demands of their daily work"according to the company.
"In a context of full innovation experienced by Metro de Lisboa, the new clothing accompanies this modernization and promotes a relaxed image of its workers who daily represent the company to customers and the general public"Metro de Lisboa said in a statement.
Designed to combine functionality and comfort, this new clothing line focuses on "visibility, versatility and dynamism". Inspired by blue and red, the institutional colors of the Lisbon Metro, the creative aspect was not the company's only concern. According to Metro de Lisboa, several specialized technical consultations and comparative analyses were carried out on the fabrics best suited to the quality standards usually demanded by Metro de Lisboa.

During the process of studying, selecting materials and drawing up the new design, Metro de Lisboa says it had the participation of some workers, "who helped to identify the specifications and requirements of the parts according to the professional categories, contributing to the improvement of the same, according to their experience and needs in the performance of their duties".
After 25 years since the last workwear, this new line was developed by a multidisciplinary in-house team, produced by a national company and involved an investment of around 835,000 euros (this figure includes, in addition to the garments, footwear, the testing process and the distribution of the uniforms to the workers).
