Integration of the new viaducts built to the west of the current Campo Grande station into the existing infrastructure, allowing the future start-up of the Circular line.

In detail: connection of the two new viaduct structures; implementation of new switches, enabling the new connection between Campo Grande (Green Line) and Cidade Universitária stations; implementation of new switches, enabling the new connection between Campo Grande (Yellow Line) and Telheiras stations.

(*) Why is it necessary to interrupt the circulation between Campo Grande and Rato? According to Metro de Lisboa, "the work to be carried out implies an intervention in the signaling system of this section of the network that is not compatible with the maintenance in operation of the transport service. The carrier explains that "this intervention is essential to allow the operation of the Yellow Line between Cidade Universitária station and Rato (inclusive) during the intervention from May 2nd to July 7th, minimizing the impact of this intervention and ensuring the correspondence of passengers between the metro mode and the suburban trains, at Entrecampos station, and the connection to the University Campus, Santa Maria Hospital and other area of influence of Cidade Universitária station.

According to the company, "the execution of this work, due to its nature and complexity, is not compatible with the safe circulation of trains and the functioning of the transport service, requiring a series of temporary traffic interruptions on parts of the Yellow and Green lines.

To mitigate the impacts caused during these periods, Metro de Lisboa will increase the supply of trains on the Green Line, thus reducing waiting times on this lineCarris, articulating with other transport operators, namely Carris, the reinforcement of its lines. During the most critical period, between May 2nd and July 7th, bus lines 767, 747 and 778 can be used on the Telheiras-Campo Grande axis, and bus lines 738 and 735 on the Cidade Universitária-Campo Grande axis. During the interruption of a large part of the Yellow Line, routes 738, 701 and 727 can be used. The GIRA network can also be a mobility alternative to overcome the closures.

The Circular Line will be a reality by the end of 2024 and is presented by Metro de Lisboa "as a structuring project for the city of Lisbon and for the improvement of accessibilities and connectivity, since the planned network enables the development of a new internal circularity, materializing a high frequency distribution platform and connecting, in a more efficient way, the metropolitan services".. The Circular Line will be the new Green Line, with two new stations at Estrela and Santos, which will close the ring between Cais do Sodré and Rato.
