Obsolete VIVA portal begins to be replaced by the new Navegante portal

O Navegante.com intends to be the new major public transportation portal for the entire Lisbon metropolitan area (amL)replacing the old and obsolete VIVA portal. In the future, the Navegante portal will allow anyone to manage their passenger account, make balance top-ups, update their pass, check their travel history, etc. For now, it is an informative site, but still incomplete and under construction.

In beta version, the new Navegante portal is expected to gradually grow in services and functionality for public transport users in amL and will be complemented, in the near future, also with a mobile app. For now, the site aggregates a set of information about the Navegante, the metropolitan area's entire ticketing system, and about the various modes of transportation that rely on this system.

Thus, the Navegante.pt explains that cards exist, what are the tariffs available, the discounts existing and that face-to-face passenger support services exist. There is also a space for news about amL transportation, a metropolitan agenda and a page about the accessibility of the transport network to people with reduced mobility. The portal also has a journey planner - which, for now, is based on Google Maps - and with a centralized warning system for when there are changes to the usual service of a particular public transport line or route.

The portal that has now been made available and is being managed by Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML) is a first version and the beginning of the decommissioning process of the previous VIVA portal. The space "My Navigator" will allow public transport passengers to manage their account; while the future service "Navigator Enterprises" will allow companies, associations and other legal entities to manage the passes of their teams.
