A more agile process that simplifies access to the "4_18" discount for many young students in the Lisbon metropolitan area.
Activate the "4_18" discount without any red tape is now possible in several passenger support centers throughout the Lisbon metropolitan area (amL). This simplified process, as part of the Navigant + Agile, is available in all Carris Metropolitana Navegante Spaces, except those in Barreiro and Cascais, and in two Metro de Lisboa service areas (Campo Grande and Marquês de Pombal).
This faster access to the "4_18" discount is possible thanks to communication between the registration portal and the Navegante central system, where all amL transport cooperates. Basically, the Navegante system now has access to information from the Instituto de Gestão Financeira da Educação (IGeFE) about the students who are enrolled. However, it only has access to information on students whose parents have given their consent, via the enrolment portal, when they enrol.
To find out if this is the case for your son or daughter, simply go to navegante.co.uk, enter Navigant + Agile and check that he or she is eligible for the automatic renewal of the discount, indicating his or her ID and Navegante card number. If you receive an indication that your card is eligible for "+ agile" activation, you can do this in self-service at 23 of Carris Metropolitana's 26 Navegante Spaces (all except the Barreiro and Cascais Spaces).The discount is available at the Metro de Lisboa's main offices (Campo Grande and Marquês de Pombal). If parents have not given permission on the registration portal, this more agile process will not be available and they should access the "4_18" discount in the usual way, by submitting a registration declaration to a transport operator.
Activation of the "4_18" discount in selected passenger support areas is possible through a small automatic machineAll you have to do is put the card in the reader, click on "activate profile", wait a few seconds and remove the card.
If your child is not eligible for a "4_18" activation in mode self-service or if you're a student in higher education ("sub23") and don't yet have your enrolment certificate with you, you can continue to top up your Navegante pass and benefit from the "4_18" or "sub23" discount at any Carris Metropolitana Navegante Space until the end of 2023. This possibility is not available at the ATM or other operators.
