The cycle path will be built along Rua Alexandre Ferreira and Estrada do Desvio, where there are already two small sections, and will be connected to the Calçada de Carriche cycle bridge.

The cycle lane that runs along Alameda das Linhas de Torres, from Campo de Grande, will continue right up to the border between Lisbon and Odivelas. EMEL has opened public tender for the construction of a cycle path on Rua Alexandre Ferreira and Estrada do Desvio - where there are already two small sections disconnected from each other - which will be connected by 30+ bikes to the Calçada de Carriche cycle-pedestrian bridge.
The completion of the cycling network in this area, between the parishes of Lumiar and Santa Clara, will serve a densely populated areawhere only the bus is a sustainable mobility option. The bicycle could thus become an alternative not only to the bus but also to individual transport. The extension of the network in this area will also serve the intercity connection between Lisbon and Odivelas that is planned via Calçada de Carriche, under which a cycle bridge has already been built.

Currently, the cycle path on Alameda das Linhas de Torres already reaches Rua Alexandre Ferreira, which already has a small two-way sectionbuilt under the A Square in Every Neighborhood. On the other hand, on Estrada do Desvio, there is another small section of 30+ bikes with counterflowCompleted as part of a green spaces project. All that remains is to complete the cycle route, linking these sections.
This connection will be made in two ways: on the one hand, on Estrada do Desvio it will be extended corridor 30+bicycle downhill, with segregated counterflow uphillOn Rua Alexandre Ferreira, the cycle path will be segregated and bidirectional. In addition, on Rua Prof. José Pinto Correiawill be marked 30+bicycle lines on the road surface to establish a more direct link between the Estrada do Desvio and the Calçada de Carriche cycle bridge. Today, there is already a somewhat discreet connection through a coexistence zone between buildings. The bridge over the Calçada de Carriche not only allows you to reach the new Encosta do Olival Urban Park and Quinta de Alcoutins, in Lumiar, as well as the future bidirectional and intermunicipal bike path, which will connect Lisbon to the neighboring municipality of Odivelas.

To make this project a reality, both Estrada do Desvio and Rua Alexandre Ferreira will have a single, one-way road (they currently have two, one-way lanes). The cycle network project will also enable parking to be reorganized and accessible pedestrian crossings to be created.
The construction contract for this cycle path has an estimated time of 150 days (five months) and a estimated cost of 398 thousand euros. The public tender now open by EMEL, Lisbon's municipal mobility company, is to find a contractor to carry out the project drawn up by mobility and urban planning company MPTby Paula Teles.

The bicycle path on Estrada do Desvio is one of the 19 projects announced in the "dynamic" bike lane plan by the Deputy Mayor of Lisbon, Filipe Anacoreta Correia. In addition to this cycle path in Lumiar/Santa Clara, EMEL has already launched a tender for a cycle path in the Álvaro Pais Avenuein Avenidas Novas; and SRU, the municipal works company, is in charge of the tender for the improving the cycle path between Duque d'Ávila and the El Corte Inglês intersection.
