O Yellow, the school mobility project of Lisbon City Council and Carris, continues to grow and reach more schools in the city. At the end of February, five kindergartens and primary schools in the parishes of Campolide, Penha de França and Santa Clara joined this initiative, which aims to encourage the use of public transport for school trips.

Aimed especially at younger children in kindergartens and primary schools, the project Yellow is based on the Carris Neighborhood Carriers network e allows the little ones to go to school independently, by bus, without their mothers and fathers. The children are accompanied on these journeys by adult monitors, who ensure their safe arrival at school, thus allowing parents and guardians to have a more relaxed morning. There are WhatsApp groups for regular communication between the monitors and the various parents, giving even more confidence and peace of mind to the whole dynamic.

The Project Yellow is available in 18 schools, covering seven parishes and seven Carreiras de Bairro: 26B, 29B, 37B, 40B, 61B, 67B and 70B. In the parish of Campolide, the initiative reached JI/EB Querubim Lapa; in Penha de França, JI/EB Arq. Vitor Palla and JI/EB Prof. Oliveira Marques; and in Santa Clara, EB Eurico Gonçalves, JI da Ameixoeira and JI/EB Alta de Lisboa.

O Yellow operates on the usual timetables and routes of the Carreiras de Bairro, which in some cases have been adjusted to better serve schools. The details of this initiative can be found at here or here. To take part, all you have to do is sign your child up, indicating your preferred stop and time, and then drop your child off at the indicated stop and time. He or she will arrive by Yellow to school on time. This initiative is completely free of charge.

Registration can be done on this page by selecting the school you want to attend. In the 2022/23 school year, the Yellow worked with three Carreiras from Barreiro and covered nine schools from the parishes of Benfica and Olivais, with a total of 50 students enrolled.
