Carris Metropolitana has reorganized the stops of the different lines at the Coina train station. Find out what's new as of July 1st.
In order to have a better distribution of buses at the Coina terminal, next to the train station, the On Monday, July 1, Carris Metropolitana reorganized its stops.. There are now five stops, one of which is exclusive to the TCB (Transportes Colectivos do Barreiro) and the other four to the yellow buses of Carris Metropolitana.
Since Carris Metropolitana started operating, the Coina terminal had too many lines assigned to a single stop, P1, which led to conflicts between TCB and Carris Metropolitana buses. A P1 had nine lines and now has only five, whose main destinations are Fernão Ferro, Quinta do Conde, Zambujal, Praia do Meco and Sesimbra.
A third stop (P3) will continue to have the 3620 line to Quinta do Conde, as well as two lines that pass through Coina and connect Moita, Paio Pires and Seixal (the 4620 and 4621). On the other hand, the P4 will now have all the lines that have destinations or stops in Azeitão: the 3543, 3626 and 4632. Lines 3543 and 3626 pass through the interior of Quinta do Conde, while line 4632 goes as far as Quinta do Anjo. The last stop, the P5will be used exclusively by line 3635, which connects to Sesimbra, passing through Azeitão and Sampaio.

"These changes aim to optimize Carris Metropolitana's transport service in the region, improving efficiency and adapting to the needs of passengers", informs Carris Metropolitana in a statement. There are no changes to the offer made by Transportes Colectivos do Barreiro (TCB), which remains in P2.
Despite these measures to improve the use of public transport, the abusive parking on curves and sidewalks continues to be a problem in Coina, hindering the movement of buses. Drivers report frequent difficulties, as on some occasions they are unable to pass due to inadequate parking, compromising passengers' confidence in the service.
