Excerpt from the project released for Defensores de Chaves

Avenida Defensores de Chaves will gain, in 2019, two one-way cycle tracks. The project for that artery, disclosed online by the Lisbon City Hall, hides a set of ideas for the Avenidas Novas area that can make any cyclist overjoyed.

Here we share the plans for cycling infrastructure in Avenidas Novas, which include some details on Defensores de Chaves that were not done.

1 - the extension of the Duque d'Ávila cycling path to improve conflicts with pedestrians, the elimination of the sidewalk at the end of the Visconde Valmor counterflow and the connection of the Defensores de Chaves cycling path to Campo Pequeno:

2 - the creation of a bidirectional bicycle path for the Rua Dª Filipa de Vilhena, which becomes one-way for the remaining vehicles, and which connects to Campo Pequeno, passing in front of the Central Municipal Library (Palácio Galveias) and Culturgest:

3 - a 30+bike shared lane on Avenida 5 de Outubro with the respective improvements on Avenida Duque d'Ávila also in that area, and also the lowering of the sidewalk on a street at the exit of the Saldanha traffic circle, facilitating that connection:
