Carris Metropolitana is making a significant network upgrade: more weekend timetables on line 4701, which connects the municipalities of Lisbon, Moita and Montijo; changes to the connections to the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures; and various other adjustments to the municipal and inter-municipal lines in Loures and throughout area 4. All this from November 1st.

On November 1st, one of the most significant updates to the Carris Metropolitana network since its launch between the summer of 2022 and January of this year will come into effect. Line 4701, which connects Lisbon to Vale da Amoreira and is a success story, will now have 43 new timetables. In Loures, several lines will no longer be able to enter the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital. And there are also improvements in areas 2 and 4, in the municipalities of Loures, Alcochete, Barreiro, Moita, Montijo, Palmela and Setúbal.
4701, a reinforced success story
In response ton view of the growing needs of passengers, Carris Metropolitana has announced significant improvements to line 4701. The new timetables come into force this week, on November 1st, with special emphasis on weekends.
The line 4701, between Lisbon (Oriente) and the Amoreira Valley - with passage through Launched, Sarilhos Grandes, Montijo, Broega, Moita, Alto de São Sebastião e Alhos Vedros - has played a vital role in the mobility of the south bankIt is an option to individual transportation in an area where heavy-duty alternatives are practically absent.
As a result of its success, adjustments will be made to circulations and the offer will be strengthened both on weekdays and weekends, with the addition of 43 new timetables, nine on weekdays, 18 on Saturdays and 16 on Sundays. Since the start of Carris Metropolitana's operation in area 4 in June 2022, this is the fourth reinforcement of line 4701.

Towards Lisbon (Oriente):
- at business days, will be added five new timetablesat 10:00, 16:15, 16:45, 17:30 and 18:30;
- to Saturdays, will be eight new timetables addedIt will now have services every hour and at peak times every 30 minutes;
- to Sundays, will be eight new timetables addedIt will now have hourly services, the first of which will be at 6.30am.
Towards Vale da Amoreira:
- At business days, will be four new timetables added at 15:30, 16:00, 17:20 and 19:20, increasing the frequency from 4 to 6 per hour. The service will be extended until 23:30;
- To Saturdays, will be 10 new timetables addedIt will now have services every hour and, during rush hour, every 30 minutes, starting at 7.00 and ending at 23.30;
- To Sundays, will be eight new timetables addedIt will now have hourly services, starting at 7.30am and ending at 11.30pm.
It should be remembered that before Carris Metropolitana, the number of services of the former 333 career, of which the 4701 is the successor, was 76 every working day. From November 1st, there will be 110 services per working day. The increase in supply, compared to the situation before Carris Metropolitana, will be 45% more on weekdays, 83% more on Saturdays and 230% more on Sundays. As recently as April this yearWith the growing number of passengers using line 4710, two schedules were introduced with an Express feature, departing from Vale da Amoreira towards Lisbon via the A33, at 6am and 7am respectively, making it possible to reduce journey times in the early hours of the morning.

Changes at Beatriz Angelo Hospital
From November 1st, the following will change bus access permits at Beatriz Ângelo Hospital. From then on, only the small buses will be allowed to circulate inside the Hospital groundsThe conventional-sized buses will remain at the entrance. Thus, those arriving on the 2023, 2513, 2517, 2519, 2524, 2601, 2725 e 2780 you will have to transfer to one of these lines: 2016, 2020 or 2026. The alternative is to walk for six minutes.

In addition adding two extra timetables to line 2026, increasing the supply of small buses with access to the interior of the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital. During the school term, timetables will be introduced at 6.40am and 9.15pm. During the school and summer vacation periods, there will be an additional run at 7:00 and another at 20:00.

On November 1, the following updates to the Carris Metropolitana area 4 network (municipalities of Alcochete, Barreiro, Moita, Montijo, Palmela and Setúbal) will also come into force:
- the lines 4304 | Palmela (Terminal) - Penalva e 4612 | Bairro dos Marinheiros - Palmela (Terminal) will have their long journeyin both directions, in order to serve Quinta da Marquesa. The lines will now run along the North Circular Road, where two new stops will be added;
- the lines 4501, 4511, 4600, 4703 e 4705 will also have the altered and extended route in Samouco. The new route will pass through Rua da Quinta da Praia, following Rua Conde de Valle de Reis, going up to Praça José Coelho, and no longer entering Praça da República. The line 4705 | Lisboa (Oriente) - SamoucoIn addition to the new stops, it will start and end its journey at the Rua Doutor Manuel da Cruz Júniorin Samouco. With these changes, timetable adjustments have been made;
- the line 4532 | Moita - Quatro Marcos will have its long journeyIt connects Moita station and Bairro 1º de Maio. The following have been added new stopsof which we highlight one at Moita station and four at Bairro 1º de Maio. A connection was also added to the continente traffic circle with the creation of a stop at the Rua de Palmelain both directions. With this change, the line will undergo timetable adjustments to make it compatible with schools and trains.

On November 1, the following updates will also come into force on the municipal and inter-municipal network of Loures (which is part of area 2 of Carris Metropolitana):
- In order to improve the service, especially for pupils attending the Bucelas school, the 2006, 2007 and 2008 lines will undergo changes. A 2007 line to be decommissionedsince the line 2008, the Bucelas and Mato Cruz ring roadwill now cover your route. The new 2008 route will run between Bucelas and Mato Cruz, also including the Solcasa neighborhood, with the creation of a stop at the highest point of the neighborhood. The 2008 line will also have two new stops at Bucelas school to better cater for entry and exit times, and other timetable adjustments. With the changes to the 2008 line 2006, the new Bucelas, Bemposta and Vila de Rei ring road will serve the same towns previously served by the 2007 line. The 2006 line will run a longer service, also serving the Vila de Rei region, and will have timetable adjustments;
- in order to offer new connections to Centro Comercial de Loures, Urmeiras and Lidl de LouresAs a result, 10 lines that used to terminate at Largo Marcos Romão Reis Júnior will now serve new areas. Lines 2022, 2513, 2534, 2535, 2605 and 2733 will now terminate at Lidl de Loures, lines 2521, 2724 and 2726 at Centro Comercial de Loures, and line 2719 at Urmeiras. All these lines will continue to stop at the square;
- a Zambujal circular line, at 2037will have a second alternative routein order to guarantee the service to the Olival Queimado neighborhood and the schools of Loures. The route existing alternative starts in Zambujal and successively serves the areas of Palácio, Loures and, on the way back, passes through Bairro do Olival Queimado, ending the route in Zambujal. O new alternative route starts in Zambujal and successively serves the areas of Bairro do Olival Queimado, Palácio and Loures, returning, without passing through Bairro Olival Queimado, to Zambujal. With this change, the line will have timetable adjustments;
- the line 2011 | Cabeço de Montachique - Loures (Health Center) via Murteira will now have a a single main route and an alternative route. The main route will be extended and end at Cabeço de Montachique, serving Bairro Novo de Palhais. The alternative route will serve the Mato do Antão neighborhood, via the EN374. All the timetables for the alternative routes will now be integrated into the routes that remain, guaranteeing the timetable previously used;
- the line 2765 | Cabeço de Montachique - Lisboa (C. Grande) will now have a a single main route and an alternative route. The main route now serves Bairro Novo de Palhais, while the alternative route serves Póvoa da Galega. The alternative route only runs in the direction of Póvoa da Galega. The adjustments were made in order to serve students who live in Bairro Novo de Palhais and study in Loures. All the timetables for the alternative routes will now be integrated into the routes that remain, guaranteeing the timetable previously used.
