A total of 160 recycling bins near the well-known eco-islands - waste collection points for recycling - 44 more oil bins installed in strategic buildings such as markets and parish councils will form a network of 204 smart bins in Lisbon. They will be managed by the company Hardlevel, which is creating the National Olive Oil Network (RENO).

The first of the 204 smart bins was installed this week next to the underground eco-island on Rua Luís de Camões, in Alcântara. By the end of May, the remaining 159 street bins are expected to have been installed, covering the parishes of Areeiro, Arroios, Beato, Penha de França, Benfica, Carnide, São Vicente and Alcântara. In a second phase, the remaining 44 will be installed in places such as markets and parish councils.

These bins, called Smart S+, are smart because they are connected to the internet, allowing residents and visitors to the city, via the platform RENO AppIn this way, you can use your cell phone or computer to access the location of the nearest can and check in real time how full the cans are. With the implementation of these bins, Lisbon joins the National Bin Network, which has more than 2,000 bins in 80 municipalities. For those who don't like "smart things", there are already several analog bins scattered around the city, in different public and private spaces, which can be consulted here.

In addition to installing the equipment, Hardlevel will also guarantee the management, pre-treatment and recovery of the so-called Used Food Oils (OAU) produced in the canteens of Lisbon's social welfare services and sapper fire department regiments.
