Life Lungs, the project that continues to plant new trees in Lisbon

The target is 240,000 new trees and shrubs by 2024, but it's possible that many won't survive in the meantime. Land conditions aren't always the best, so the focus is on planting in quantity and adopting the best measures so that the greatest number survive and grow to give the city a new lease of life.

After a planting open to the public at the beginning of the year, which involved around 20,000 trees and shrubs, more trees were planted throughout the year. On February 15, for example, around 200 more trees were planted in Rua dos Eucaliptos, in the parish of Olivais, in partnership with the Parish Council. Throughout November, more trees were planted in different parts of the city.
