
Opened in 2018, o Mountain Valley Urban Park is one of the city's greatest green treasures. Located very close to densely populated areas, such as Alvalade and Areeiro, this park has 11 hectares to run, play, ride a bike or enjoy in another way. In the future, it will have even more: 12 new hectares.
O public tender for the construction of the second phase of the Vale da Montanha Urban Park, sometimes known as Quinta da Montanha, budgeted at around 4 million euroswas released. The contract performance period, when awarded, of 730 days.
The Mountain Valley Urban Park will have 23 hectares in the future. According to the project (which you can see below), a new square with kioska zone sports with turf for high-load activities (such as rugby training) and a track for practicing tennis. cycling, a horticultural park and a community orchard.
In general, it will be a reordering of a territory left to the mercy of an informal occupation. The site will be cleaned up, removing not only unwanted objects but also vegetation with infesting characteristics; pedestrian and cycling paths will be established; new biodiverse meadows will be promoted; and a Mediterranean slope will emerge with the requalification of an existing olive grove.
With its current 11 hectares and future new 12 hectares, the Urban Park of the Mountain Valley will form with the adjoining parks a green area of more than 110 hectares, the second Lisbon's second largest green area after Monsanto Forest Park. Vale da Montanha connects with Bela Vista Park (85 hectares) and Casal Vistoso Urban Park (five hectares), which starts right next to Olaias.
