A small great improvement.

When you arrive at a train station, the first thing you want to know is which train is next and which line it's leaving from. Well, at Gare do Oriente, until recently this information was only available on the middle floor of the station: you had to go up the stairs and then look for the information panels at the entrance to each line. The situation has changed recently.

Infraestruturas de Portugal - the company that manages Gare do Oriente and all the other national railway stations - has placed four digital panels at the entrance (i.e. on the first floor) of the main long-distance train station, which also serves as the departure point for many suburban connections.

The four panels indicate the next eight departures and their lines, as well as whether there are any delays or cancellations on a service. Two of these panels are installed at the entrance facing the shopping center and the other two at the entrance facing the road interfacelocated immediately next to the station.

Although it's a small improvement, it's still relevant. In a train station, providing real-time information about upcoming departures is also relevant, but at Gare do Oriente this wasn't the case right at the entrance, in contrast to the rest of the city - at Entrecampos, Sete Rios, Campolide or Roma-Areeiro, Rossio or Santa Apolónia train stations, it was always possible to see the next trains passing the first door.

By the way: how many times have you thought how nice it would be to have information about the Metro's waiting time at the station entrance so that you could calmly go downstairs because the next train won't be here for another five minutes?
