Carris debuts the last of the 27 neighborhood buses. It's the 67B and it already runs at Estrela

The 67B is already circulating in Estrela. The Carris neighborhood network is now complete.

Carris' Neighborhood Carriers network is complete. Introduced in 2017, it was launched little by little with the intention of better connect the neighborhoods and their main points, such as schools, markets, health centers, and transportation interfaces. A project that began with António Costa, passed through Fernando Medina, and that Carlos Moedas is now concluding. "In this concept of the 15-minute city, we talk about a city where we first walk and have the services close to our home, but also have buses that facilitate our travel within the parishes", said the Mayor.

The 67B is the last of the 27 Neighborhood Rails and is for the parish of Estrela. From now on, all the parishes in Lisbon have at least one Neighborhood Carrier; some parishes, like Campo de Ourique or Santa Clara have two. "The Neighborhood Rails serve, basically, to connect the neighborhood, to connect the parish inside it. We have transportation that works well between the parishes, that is, when a person goes from one parish to another parish, and here the challenge is to be able to connect within the parish."Moedas explained.

Like most of the Neighborhood Carriers, the 67B has a circular routewhich, in its case, starts and ends at Jardim da Estrela, near the Basilica. The route differs from that which had initially been thought of, having been designed between Carris and the current executive of Junta de Freguesia da Estrela. The 67B goes down from the Basilica, or the future Estrela subway station, to Alcântara, connecting here to the Linha de Cintura train, and returns via Santos. "We went through streets that don't have and have never had any kind of transportation yet. It's the first time they have had a bus.", commented the mayor after making the maiden voyage. "These little buses make an excellent connection, because, for example, we're going to have people who will arrive on the new metro line and then be able to get around within the parish of Estrela, go from schools, go to the health center."

In fact, at 67B, the Estrela Neighborhood Career comes fill gaps in areas that were devoid of Carris' serviceCeuta/Sul Avenue, Rua do Possolo, Rua do Borja, Rua do Olival, Rua Ribeiro Sanches, and Rua Prior.

With Opening hours on weekdays and weekends between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.the new 67B will have a average interval of 30 minutessimilar to all other Bairro buses. The usual Carris fare pricing works in the neighbourhood buses, similarly to the Navegante passes, including the free version for young students and the elderly. There is also a specific pass for these local buses, for 10 €/month.

This Neighborhood Route Line will join those that are already in operation and that have been reinforcing local mobility, creating complementarity to the general network, generating greater proximity to the most important infrastructure in the neighborhoods such as schools, health centers, markets and other means of public transport. This service is provided by smaller and more agile vehicles, with stopping points at the most popular locations.

In all, there are 27 "Carreiras de Bairro" in Lisbon, if we consider the 43B and the 44B as one - these two lines, in Lumiar, have different numbers for each direction of circulation, despite having a common route.
