Yes, now you can know where the buses are in real time.

As of today, it is now possible to find out how long it really is until the bus arrives at any Carris Metropolitana stop or route. Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML) has just launched a online tool for real-time monitoring of timetables and routes of Carris Metropolitana; you can now see the location of the vehicles and find out the estimated waiting time for the next bus.
The tool, available at beta.carrismetropolitana.pt/stops at beta version, allows you to find out how long it will be before a Carris Metropolitana bus arrives at any stop in the Lisbon metropolitan area. By simply searching for a stop and selecting it, you will not only have information about the lines that serve it, but also the services around the stop (e.g. schools, hospitals, etc.) and a list of the next timetables for each line.
The test version of real bus time is now available! 🚍🕐

The list shows the times of the next available journeys at the stop, in order. The first timetables may be green, indicating that this journey is being followed in real time, while the remaining journeys show the planned arrival time. When you select the journey you want, the map shows the route of the journey with the bus in real time, allowing you to follow the journey and arrive at the stop.

Making timetables available to passengers in real time is crucial in a public transport service such as Carris Metropolitana, since buses are often stuck in trafficand not arriving at the stops on time, where people often despair waiting. TML's plan is to make the bus timetables available in real time, either on the panels already installed at various bus stops in the Lisbon metropolitan area.a, or in all the navigation applications (Google Maps, Moovit...). But first you have to make sure everything is in order.

In line with Carris Metropolitana's objective of transparency and data sharing, the beta version of the real-time tool is made available to passengers, who can not only follow the route of their bus - ensuring a more informed and convenient travel experience - but can also actively contribute to improving the system. In fact, passengers are invited to confirm that the waiting time indicated in the tool was correct, information that will help TML correct any errors before this data is made more widely available.
Currently, more than 1600 buses in Carris Metropolitana, every day, in the 18 municipalities of the Lisbon metropolitan area. These vehicles made more than 19,800 circulations on a working day, serving 500,000 to 600,000 people. Real Time has the role of monitoring each of these journeys remotely, connecting to the vehicle's own system. Therefore, in order to ensure that the data provides the most accurate information, a testing period is needed to validate and correct the information.
