From October 29 to November 5, the Cidade Universitária station of the Lisbon Metro will be closed, and the Yellow Line will be cut between Campo Grande and Entrecampos. Interruption impacts a week of classes and also the Web Summit.

The Metro station at the city's main university campus will be closed for a weekand the circulation of trains on the Yellow Line will be done in two segments: on the one hand, between Odivelas and Campo Grandeof the other, between Entrecampos and Rato. This conditioning, motivated by works on the railway track, will take place between October 29 (a Saturday) and November 5 (the following Friday).
According to Metro de Lisboawill be developed "intervention works on the railway track" in the section between Campo Grande and Entrecampos, which, "for security reasons"imply the "closure of the operation to the public in the section where the works will take place"which includes the University City station. This station will reopen on November 6 at 6:30 a.m., when the Yellow Line will be fully open again.
Yellow Line interrupted in week of classes, Web Summit and Brazilian elections
Note that this interruption in the Yellow Line takes place over a weekend and also during the week of the November 1st holiday - which this year falls on a Tuesday - so that many people will be able to take advantage of Monday to make a bridge. Even so, the restrictions planned for the Yellow Line will have a significant impact on the city's mobility, particularly for the many students who have classes at the University City.
The interruption of the Yellow Line also comes during Web Summit weekwhich takes place in the Portuguese capital between November 1st and 4th. It will also impact the second round of the Brazilian presidential elections, which in Lisbon take place in the University City on September 30th.
The company says the number of trains on the Green Line will be increased, with a reduction in waiting timesso that it can serve as an alternative at Campo Grande station. Metro de Lisboa also suggests the use of the 701, 736, 717, 738 e 767 Carris - these last three allow connections from Campo Grande with other points of the Carris network and Lisbon Metro, being "subject to bus capacity"says the operator of the city's metropolitan service.
This is not the first time the Lisbon Metro closes part of one of its lines for construction this year. In August Blue Line was interrupted for five days between Laranjeiras and Marquês de Pombal stations, which generated chaos in Sete Rios, one of the largest public transport interfaces in the city, departure and arrival point of long distance buses from Rede Expressos and Flixbus. At the time, Carris reinforced some of its routes, namely the 716 and 746, but the supply was insufficient to meet the demand that cutting a Metro line implies.
