After all, are the best ideas born in a garage or a parking lot?

EMEL will challenge the community of innovators to experiment with ideas or solutions that have not yet been tested or implemented in their parking lots. "The best ideas are born in the garage in the parking lot" is the motto for this initiative, which is open to entrepreneurs, companies and third sector organizations, with proposals of a commercial or non-commercial nature.
This initiative is a a new step in the collaborative relationship that EMEL has fostered and maintained with the community of innovatorsand which has Startup Lisboa as an associate partner. This time, the company is turning its parking lots into a "laboratory" for innovators to experiment with pilot projects in a real environment. The aim is to find ideas and solutions that in the medium term can benefit EMEL's customers, but also the entire community surrounding the parking lots.
The EMEL parks in Ameixoeira, Cosme Damião, Hub Criativo do Beato and Manuel Gouveia will be the "laboratories" of this initiative. Interested parties can submit their proposals until October 10th, through a form available on EMEL's websitewhere you can also find out more about this initiative.
After the close of the application submission period, the eligible proposals will be submitted to a evaluation through public consultationthrough an online vote, in which each person will have one vote. The implementation of the selected innovative solutions will take place over six months, following the signing of a collaboration agreement. The public vote is expected to take place in November, the results will be decided by the end of the year and the pilot projects will run from January to June 2024.
This initiative is open to public or private entities - micro, small or medium-sized enterprises; large companies; research centers; civil society organizations - as well as third sector organizations, as long as they are duly established in Portugal (head office or branch). Pilot projects can include experimenting with concepts and acceptance testing, demonstrating solutions and assessing business viability. We are looking for solutions that are at a pre-adoption stage of maturity or in the validation phase.
"Fostering dialogue and collaboration with the community of innovators and civil society is a hallmark of EMEL. It is present in the services it provides on a daily basis and also in its vision for the future through the projects it promotes or partners with to contribute to improving mobility in the city of Lisbon."Carlos Silva, president of EMEL, said in a statement. "This initiative to test pilots in our parking lots reflects EMEL's commitments in a very concrete way, and so we are very hopeful that innovators will take up this challenge."
