They are called BiciParks, and are a network of 13 underground bicycle parking lots spread throughout Lisbon. They will go live in the coming weeks, offering more than 200 seats to residents and non-residents of the city. The first, o do Lumiaris the only one that is already in full operation.

The subscription to these BiciParks is free for residents who do not have a car (i.e. who don't have a resident card or an EMEL contract) and costs 7 euros/month for the others - non residents of the city or residents with a card or contract.

The subscription to the BiciParks service works through the portal My EMEL Profilewhich you can access with your GIRA or ePark data. The process only takes a few minutes, you need to provide some personal data and your card number Lisboa Viva. This card, which is the same one used to access the city's public transportation, will be the means to access each of the 13 BiciParks; if you don't have this card, you can get one in 15 minutes at one of Carris' service stations or at Alameda Metro Station.

The 13 BiciParks are:

  • Lumiar
  • Telheiras East
  • Telheiras West
  • Cosme Damião
  • Alto dos Moinhos
  • Teixeira de Pascoaes
  • Rego
  • Manuel Gouveia
  • Fancy House
  • Sousa Pinto
  • Campo de Ourique
  • Grace
  • Chão do Loureiro

The 13 BiciParks will offer, in total, 200 places for bicycles and in all of them there will be places specifically designed for cargo bikes. The subscription service gives access to any of the parks, except the one at Teixeira Pascoais Park, which will be limited to 13 users. Of the 13 BiciParks, six have free 24-hour access, four have conditioned 24-hour access (you have to apply for a special card, with limited availability), and the other two are limited to the parking lot's hours of operation.

Lumiar's BiciPark is one that is open 24 hours without restrictions. Located at Largo da República da Turkey (GPS: 38.773079,-9.159321), it has 22 conventional places and two places for cargo bikes. This was the first BiciPark set up by EMEL, having started being tested earlier this year, as reported at the time by Lisboa Para Pessoas.
