Velo-city, the world's largest bicycle mobility conference, is taking place in Lisbon, but the high ticket prices - above the national minimum wage - may alienate members of associations and the activist community, whose role in changing the modal paradigm of cities has been highlighted as central throughout various conference sessions. However, there are a few ways to be part of Velo-city without spending the 850 euros it costs to enter.

A conference at Ler Devagar

Carlos Moreno - Colombian living in Paris for more than 20 years, urban planner, professor at Sorbonne University, "father" of the concept of the city of 15 minutes - will close the 2021 edition of Velo-city on the morning of September 9th. On the same day, but at the end of the day (6 p.m.), he will be at the Ler Devagar bookshop in the LX Factory, and also online in a short parallel conversation moderated by Público journalist Abel Coentrão.

The meeting is being organized by the collective Cities Commitment, described as "an effort to reflect on an agenda for cities". Designated "Proximity, Diversity and Collective Action for Cities"The conversation will feature Professor João Ferrão, from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-UL), as well as Carlos Moreno. Registration for the face-to-face version is limited to the authorized capacity, but the event will be broadcast online.

Unlike bicycle paradeThis walk, which will take place from the same starting point at 6:30 p.m. the day before, is open to everyone who wants to take part. Just show up!
