One in Jardim Constantino, four on the Almirante Reis axis, one in Rossio, another on Rua dos Fanqueiros next to the Elevador do Castelo and an eighth between Rua do Ouro and Rua da Prata. These are the new GIRA stations.

They open this Monday, January 31st, eight stations of the GIRA shared bicycle network along Avenida Almirante Reis and downtown. These are the first stations to come into operation after the impasse caused by the bankruptcy of the energy supplierthat the Mayor of Lisbon said that would be resolved this January.
The stations that open this Monday should be available from lunchtime. And they are as follows:
- 223 - Rossio Square
- 226 - Rua dos Fanqueiros / Rua da Assunção
- 220 - Rua do Comércio
- 316 - Rua António Pedro / Rua Pascoal de Melo
- 315 - Jardim Constantino
- 313 - Rua Frei Francisco Foreiro / Rua de Arroios
- 311 - Avenida Almirante Reis / Travessa do Maldonado
- 314 - Rua Marques da Silva / Rua António Pedro




The eight stations are located in the parishes of Santa Maria Maior and Arroios, and correspond to an addition of 129 docks to the GIRA network. EMEL says that three more stations are due to open in the second week of February - two in Olivais (which were left unopened last year and total 58 docks) and one in Lumiar (33 docks).

GIRA now has 110 stations in operation, representing a total of around 2,100 bicycle docks. This year, half a hundred more stations will be opened and more bicycles will be purchased - at the moment, the system has more than a thousand bicycles in circulation, a number that should increase with the expansion of the network.
The opening of the eight stations at Almirante Reis will be marked by the Councillor for Mobility, Ângelo Pereira, and the President of EMEL, Luís Natal Marqueswith the starting point at the GIRA station in Praça do Rossio at 12 noon.
