Throughout the month of January, public sessions are being held to present Lisbon's Municipal Housing Charter, where the population can clarify their doubts and also share their opinions. These meetings are promoted by the City Council.
Approved in October 2023, the Lisbon Municipal Housing Charter has since been in public consultation on the municipality's websiteAny person or entity can participate with their contributions, opinions and suggestions for improvement. Meanwhile, throughout this month of January, several public sessions are scheduled to discuss the CharterThis is the city's major strategy and planning document for housing, which sets out the priorities and goals for the next decade.
According to the Lisbon City Council, these sessions "aim to enlighten/inform citizens" on the Municipal Housing Charter, "with each session having its own theme". The first took place on January 8th at 6pm in the Town Hall, and was about "increasing the public housing supply". But there will be four more sessions:
- January 15, at 6 p.m., in the auditorium of UACS - União de Associações do Comércio e Serviços, in Rua Castilho, on "reducing asymmetries in access to housing";
- January 22nd, at 6 p.m., at the Orlando Ribeiro Library, in Telheiras, on "increasing the supply of cooperative and partnership housing";
- January 29, at 6 p.m., at Fórum Lisboa, in Alvalade, on "regenerating the forgotten city“.
These three sessions are public and open, with no registration required, and will be attended by the Councillor for Housing, Filipa Roseta.
In addition to these meetings, the Chamber is organizing other, smaller sessions, limited to 30 people and subject to registration. These will allow people to give their opinions directly. The aim, according to the municipality, is to "to collect data in a deliberative manner on the measures set out in the Municipal Housing Charter". "The structure of the sessions will be developed in natural language and in a graphically appealing way, allowing citizens to select themes according to their interests and to share their opinion. The selection of themes aims to group together participants with similar interests, promoting more focused debates aligned with the needs of the population of Lisbon"says the municipality. These sessions will take place on January 12th, 19th, 26th and 31st, always at 6pm; registration can be done here.
