Lisbon will have, for the first time, a network for real-time monitoring of air quality, noise levels or traffic. 80 stations, with 658 sensors, in order to obtain spatial coverage of the entire city, will be ready for operation until the end of March.

The data, until now only known in one-off studies, will be available in real time through the CML's open data platforms. The project represents an investment of about 350 thousand euros, partially funded by the innovation project H2020 Sharing Cities, according to information from the municipality.

It is expected that this data will also allow the updating of the city's strategic noise map and promote new dynamics of air pollution control.

The present mapping will complement the monitoring carried out by the official network of fixed stations of the Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento Regional de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo (CCDR_LVT) and the meteorological stations of the IPMAin Lisbon.
