After the success of 2021, the mythical race is back and open to cyclists of all ages. Above all, this is a popular party.
After the success of 2021 edition of the mythical Climbing the Vale de Santo António Hillclimbnow it is announced that the 2022 edition will be announced!
On Sunday, October 16, at 10 a.m., the famous Rua do Vale de Santo António ramp will once again be cycled up, a 550-meter "climbing" race that begins at the foot of the Santa Engrácia hill, climbing steeply to the end of the same street and crossing a glorious, noisy finish line at the top.
This time, in addition to the race, there is a great novelty this year, consisting of the "Prize of the Most Beautiful and Decorated Balcony", open to the participation of all residents of the street. This is a revival of the original 1940s event, which was very successful throughout the neighborhood, decorating the entire street and adding extra color to the entire uphill slope of the ramp.
The organization will be in charge of the Mirantense Futebol Clube and Associação Desportiva e Recreativa "O Relâmpago", which are joining efforts and reinforcing (together with the population and the local commerce) to give birth to the revival of this race, forgotten for many in the foam of the decades but that, since last year, has generated buzz and enthusiasm among cyclists and cycling friends in general.
This year will be no different. The race is back and in force, with new factors and elements that enrich it in relation to the previous edition. Everyone is invited to participate or to show up in this day of authentic People's Cycling, thus supporting the runners in the exciting Climb of the 2022 Hillclimb.
Registration
Registration in the race has a one-time cost of 5 euros per participant and includes a t-shirt, a bottle, and a backpack commemorating the event.
Registration is open until 11:59 pm on October 9, 2022 with two modes:
- in personGo to Mirantense Futebol Clube's headquarters in Rua de Vale de Santo António Nº33 (Lisbon) every day from 20 to 23 hours and fill out the registration form, making the payment in cash on the day;
- by e-mailby sending the registration form and the bank transfer receipt (IBAN PT50 0036 0012 99100086961 90, in the name of Mirantense FC) to rampadovale@gmail.com.
Categories
The Vale Hill Climb has three categories:
- female: 18-45 years and +45 years
- male: 18-45 years and +45 years
- electric bikes (male/female): +18 years old
Trial Schedule
- 8h30 at 9h30 - registration of cyclists and collection of badges
- 10h00 - first cyclist to start
- 12h30 - last rider to start
- 13h00 - awards ceremony and drinks reception
Awards
The winners will be awarded a trophy; the first three winners in each category and the winner of the "Most Beautifully Decorated Balcony" will be honored.
All Participants will receive a diploma, t-shirt, bottle, and backpack.
